Ann Messer, MD, is a board-certified family physician who has been practicing family medicine and urgent care for 30 years. With over a decade of experience in Global Health, Ann founded One Good Turn to give health workers around the world the tools and knowledge to build self-sustaining, healthy communities. A graduate of Rush Medical School in Chicago, Dr. Messer did her residency work at Harvard in a triad of internal medicine, psychiatry, and family practice. Dr. Messer was named a Fulbright Specialist by the US Department of State for her work developing a clinical competency curriculum in Cambodia. She was recently awarded the Inspire Humanitarian Award by the United Nations Association Austin Chapter. Dr. Messer lives in Austin with her husband Tim; their three grown children are nearby, and together they enjoy outdoor sports, good food, and the family dog, Ziggy.

Gregg Waddill has 50 years' experience as an attorney. He has worked in the for-profit, not-for-profit and public sectors of the health care industry. Gregg has served as general counsel for several hospitals, held a number of senior health care management positions and been in private practice since 2002 in Austin, Texas. Gregg holds a Bachelor of Business Adminsitration from the University of Texas at Austin, a Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas School of Law, and a Master of Public Health from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

Timothy Hines, MD, founder and past president of Central Texas Kidney Associates, is a board-certified nephrologist and a brilliant clinician. Dr. Hines attended the Baylor College of Medicine, did his residency at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's in Chicago, and completed a fellowship at Harvard Medical School. Married to Ann, he has long and enthusiastically supported the mission of One Good Turn. Tim has shared in Ann's medical mission work from the beginning and provides a valuable perspective on the development of One Good Turn. He's also her partner in raising their three fantastic college-age kids. 

TIMOTHY HINES, MD

Alan is recently retired from a varied career encompassing medicine, law, and chemistry. He holds a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania; an M.D. from Boston University Medical School, and a J.D. from Suffolk University. Alan practiced medicine for a dozen years as an academic physician with board certification in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. He was on the faculty of Harvard Medical School and the University of Massachusetts Medical School, at both of which he taught, provided clinical care, and conducted independent basic research in immunology and transplantation. In 1998, Alan transitioned from medicine to law, in which he practiced as a registered patent attorney before the United States Patent and Trademark Office in three law firms in Boston until he retired in July 2022. While practicing law, Alan served for several years on the board-like Innovation Series Committee of the MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge.

Addison Scales leads OGT's program implementation across global teams. She first joined OGT in 2020, coordinating COVID outreach and educational projects. Addison has worked across the nonprofit and academic sectors, managing community-based research on menstrual health, COVID response, and healthcare access. She currently leads gender-specific educational programs building resilience and life skills for girls and LGBTQ+ youth. Addison lives in Seattle, WA where she enjoys adventuring in the mountains, reading, and traveling.

Viana is a third-year medical student at McGovern Medical School in Houston, with a deep passion for making sustainable healthcare accessible through education. She received a Bachelor of Science in Public Health, specializing in Behavioral and Social Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin in 2021. She joined the OGT team in 2020 as a Communications Intern and quickly transitioned to join our Medical Programming team, where she contributes her talents to our expanding library of medical education protocols. Outside of her medical pursuits, Viana loves getting out in nature and staying active, exploring new cuisines, and having game nights with friends.

Olivia Kirby, a University of Texas at Austin graduate in Kinesiology and Health Education with minors in Healthcare Reform & Innovation and Critical Disability Studies, joined One Good Turn as a Medical Programming Intern to develop education resources for underserved communities. Now a Research and Programs Intern, she handles data input, cleaning, anonymization, quality checks, and conducts background research for program development. Olivia is pursuing a master's in Public Health at Texas State University and lives in Austin, TX, where she enjoys reading, exploring new food spots, and spending time with friends.

Ethan Kulkarni is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and a certificate in Ethics and Leadership in Health Care through the Bridging Disciplines Program (BDP). He became involved in One Good Turn as part of the Connecting Experiences for the BDP program. As a Medical Programming Associate, he remains involved writing and creating practical health education curriculum for One Good Turn’s School Health Officer program in Kenya. He looks forward to applying the skills learned through work with OGT as he applies to medical school in the future. Outside of OGT, he enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.

Olivia Kirby is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Kinesiology and Health Education, with minors in Healthcare Reform & Innovation and Critical Disability Studies. Olivia lives in Austin, TX, where she enjoys reading, trying new food places, and spending time with friends.

Sanjana Dhakshinamoorthy is a sophomore at the University of Texas at Austin pursuing a Bachelor of Science and Arts in Biology. She first joined OGT as a Medical Programming intern in January 2024 and helps the team in developing educational resources for various initiatives, including the Kenya School Health Project. Sanjana hopes to matriculate into medical school after her undergraduate. Outside of academics, she loves reading, yoga, and trying new food spots in Austin!

Georgette Akinyi is a dedicated woman with an educational background in Social Work and Community Development and Software Engineering. She has a passion for improving health literacy and dedicated her career to promoting well-being within schools and communities. Georgette worked with KEMRI as a board member, and with KMET as a peer counselor. She was also the Facilitator and Ambassador for the Dreams Project under Afya Ziwani, and a Data Analyst and Sexual Reproductive Health Educator with I Choose Life Africa. Georgette’s vast expertise in social work has enabled her to understand the unique challenges faced by individuals and groups. Her skills in community development empower more people to implement effective and grassroots solutions to develop healthier and more resilient communities.

Loyce is a community health promoter who is passionate about helping communities with health matters. She has a caring
and nurturing personality and loves working with elementary school children. She has
completed basic first aid training, enteral and parenteral nutrition, exclusive breastfeeding and
basic medical skills training, and she is proficient working with and caring for
children and adults of any age.

Jane Lucy Muthoni did her bachelors in Business Leadership and Management human resource option and received a diploma in Business Administration. She has extensive experience in women empowerment/training as she  worked in Kenya Women Finance Trust for 4 years as a Business Development Officer. She also worked in the Disability Community Centre {D.C.C} for 3 years as a Project Officer. In this role, Jane implemented the “Self Help Concept,” a capacity-building programme for women in the community to eradicate poverty. 

Jane is currently self-employed in real estate as a realtor, and she volunteers for “For Just 1”  to train in making and distributing reusable sanitary pads to girls in primary and secondary schools.

She loves to work with people, and is always eager to help, listen, and make a difference in people's lives.

Natasha Kisandi is a highly motivated young professional in Public Health and Health Research. She recently graduated with her Bachelors in Health System Management from Amref International University. She developed her research skills while working as a Research Assistant with Amref Health Africa, where she developed a deep commitment to improving health outcomes. Natasha is particularly dedicated to working with underserved populations, with a newfound passion for enhancing child health in communities.

As One Good Turn's Strategic Advisor in Kenya, Paul guides partnership and strategy development. Paul is a respected community leader with over 25 years of experience with USAID-funded Pact, Inc and the co-founder of For Just One, a foundation focused on menstrual health promotion.

Vincent Barack Ogola recently graduated with a First Class Honors Degree in Public Health from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. He previously worked with US PMI VectorLink, where he helped to implement a campaign program to eradicate malaria in the Lake region of Kenya. He is passionate about working with communities to improve their health and build their capacity. His experiences have fueled his deep commitment to making a positive impact on public health in underserved areas.

Stephen Kamau Ndichu is a senior Nutritionist at Healthy U 2000. He graduated from Kenya Medical Training College in 2019 with a diploma in Nutrition and Dietician. During his work experience, Stephen has been awarded numeros certificates of recognition and tokens of appreciation for his exemplary performance and leadership skills. He deeply enjoys using his skills to improve the quality of life of others.

With a Bachelor's degree in Community Development and Environment, Fatuma has vast expertise in project planning and management, working tirelessly with communities affected by conflict. With a focus on child protection, gender mainstreaming, and community health, she has implemented evidence-based strategies that have made a tangible difference in the communities she has worked with. Her experience in social work and research and commitment to community empowerment has been instrumental in One Good Turn's purpose of addressing the needs of marginalized groups.

Emmanuel has a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from The University of Nairobi and has served in different fields of research as Data Enumerator and Field Officer. He works with national and international non-governmental organizations in agriculture and health sectors. Emmanuel also has extensive experience in teaching/coaching in various educational areas. He is passionate about transforming society through educating and guiding the youth on the best health practices in nutrition.
